Refund and Cancellation Policy
Last updated Jul 27, 2026
This policy explains how billing, cancellation, and refunds work for a Velum licence. Velum is sold as a yearly subscription. Payments are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, who handles billing, receipts, and sales tax.
Try before you buy
The browser extension masks text for free, with no key, no account, and no time limit; a key unlocks file masking and in-page masking. The desktop app runs a 7-day trial with no key and no account. You can confirm Velum does what you need before you pay, and we recommend trying it first.
Cancellation
You can cancel your yearly subscription at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your licence stays valid until the end of the period you have already paid for, so access is not cut off early. Unmasking is never gated, so you can always restore data you have already masked, even after a licence lapses.
To cancel, email licenses@velumprivacy.com, or use the manage link in any Paddle receipt.
Refunds
If Velum is not right for you, contact us within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund the payment in full. Because a refund returns your money, it also ends the licence issued for that purchase.
After 14 days we do not refund the current year, but you can still cancel to stop future renewals as described above. If something is broken or does not work as described, contact us regardless of the date and we will make it right.
How refunds are paid
Refunds are issued through Paddle to your original payment method. How long it takes to appear on your statement depends on your bank or card provider, and is usually a few working days.
Chargebacks
If a payment is refunded or charged back, the licence issued for that payment is revoked. If you think a charge is a mistake, please contact us first so we can sort it out directly.
